ABOUT ME

Lara Ayad Skidmore Shoot 1 Crop.jpg

Hi! I’m Lara

I am a TV Producer, Writer and Editor, Researcher, and Visual Analyst

My goal is to help media networks and production companies attract audiences and tell the stories that have yet to be told – I grew up in a family of Egyptian immigrants and artists who encouraged me to learn about my heritage while carving out my own professional and personal path. Throughout my young adult life, I settled in different cities all over the United States, Africa, and the Middle East and learned that the world is a far more compelling place when one looks at it from a variety of cultural and generational perspectives.

On any given day, you will find me writing an outline for an original scripted television series, planning effective hooks and storylines with producers, or creating sophisticated pitches and presentation decks about everything from cinema and culture, to history and science. I host and help produce A House for Arts (AHA!) on WMHT, a PBS affiliate in eastern New York, where I brainstorm episode themes and visuals, edit scripts, and source and research talent for our weekly program on the capitol district’s thriving arts scene. Check out AHA! episodes here!

I have a Ph.D. in art history and over a decade of experience creating a symbiosis between visual and written storytelling, based on primary research across the globe.

Nothing excites me more than working with others to make a project reality, from development to post-production, so feel free to reach out!
